Happy Monday! Hope your weekend was full of adventures and much needed family time! I don’t know about the weather where you are, but Chicago is skipping right to Winter with the colder temps. I know that cabin fever can easily hit as the temps drop, and we run out of ideas what to do or where to go to keep our littles entertained. We still like to be out and about as much as possible, even if it’s just an hour, that fresh crisp air always makes me feel good. One of the things we love to do is go on walks exploring different woods in our area. I will always say let your kids explore, let them be wild and let them be little because afterall they are kids and kids love to be dirty, messy, sticky, muddy but most importantly they are HAPPY! I have come to terms of presence versus perfection, and honestly it has helped me understand that kids need that happy mom and not a perfect mom. At the same time, what makes them happy is all that matters. So we put on our Hunter boots, and cozy sweaters and let the boys run wild. They got sticky, and muddy and fell down a few times. We got all sorts of stuff sticking to our clothes, but the best was when you ask them where they were or what they did today, their response (Vasilije’s response) was that he had so much fun and was so excited. That makes my mama heart happy.
Now, with November knocking on our doors it’s all about prepping for Thanksgiving and making that Christmas wish list. Every time we go to the store now, and they are asking for something it’s become a routine to say, well we will put that on your Christmas list. And, when December hits it’s all about dreaming of snow, and going to meet Santa.
And even when temps drop, we love being out and about. The boys love going to the local libraries. We probably go 2-3 times a week and I try to switch between different ones in the area. We love going sledding, last year we had so much fun! This year will be a little different since this mama has barely any energy (7 months pregnant) and it makes it much harder do to full on activities with these active boys. And although we can’t be outside as much as we’d like to there are always things to do in the house, and the boys love playing with their toys no matter what. I let them built forts, make messes and they love to help me bake (more like destroy the kitchen but heyyy whatever makes them happy).
So do tell, what do you like to do when the temps drop?
Xoxo, Vesna
