Hi beauties!
Hope everyone enjoyed their special day yesterday, Mother’s Day! To all the mamas, mamas to be, mamas that have lost a child, mamas trying to concieve, single mamas, adoptive mamas and all the mamas out there celebrating this beautiful day – Happy Mother’s Day!
We had a beautiful day full of activities – brunch with my boys and little lady at our fave brunch place, visiting my mama and having coffee and lunch with her, then taking the babes to the park to play and also, their uncles’ soccer game, then grabbed ice cream, but my favorite part was waking up with all my babes in bed with me. I felt truly blessed!
And, because motherhood is my muse below I am sharing my reflections on motherhood and being a mom… I should warn you, it’s a bit long.
To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane inits perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colors of a rainbow. – Maya Angelou
I was sitting right there sipping on my coffee and reflecting on motherhood, reflecting on what it means to me to be a mom. Nothing measures up to motherhood, it is the most challenging yet rewarding vocation in this world. Actually, it is our life. Once you become a mom, you are a mom forever. This above quote is everything. It’s a reminder to me that my motherhood inspirations come from my mother. She is who I look up to, she is the rock of our family, she is the one that showed me what love for children really is and that there is no comparison to that.
All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother. – Abraham Lincoln
And, this is so true. I don’t think I would be as good of a mom had she not been as good of a mom to me, had she not showered me in love and patience, lots of patience. She has taught me what motherhood really is. It is her that I am thankful for. And if you know me, you know it takes a lot for me to be patient, kind and loving. Not because I am not, but because I don’t know how to show emotions, I am not very emotional and actually I am emotionless. I tend not to dwell on things, if something happens – it happened, so let’s move on as tomorrow is another day, another chance to make it better. My mom showed me that love fornour children is unmeasurable, unconditional and endless.
The older I get, the more I realize Mom was right.
I say this with the utmost love and respect for my mother. I too, now understand what being a Mom means and what it means to love like a Mother. There is absolutely nothing more important to me in this world than my three babies, absolutely nothing. For them, I would do anything as my mother did for me (us) leaving behind her family, her country and her life for my better life. I too, now realize that being a mom means giving up on a lot of things and putting my kids first without a doubt. It means sleepless nights, devoting day and night to them, holding them when they are not feeling well, bringing them everywhere, etc, etc. I could go on forever. I too, now know that being a Mom is everything.
The moment a child is born the mother is also born. She never existed before, the woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. – Rajneesh
You can never know that feeling of a Mother until you become one, until you hold your baby for the first time. It changes everything. It gives you the power you have never had. You change. You are no longer thinking about yourself. You, now think about this baby 24/7 and it becomes your life. It consumes you, in a good way. It makes you realize that now you have someone else to take care of and give your attention to. This feeling never existed before. It is the best feeling ever. If I could do it all over again, I would and wouldn’t change anything. My kids are my world. They are my everything.
If you’re completely exhausted and don’t know how you’re going to keep giving this much of yourself day after day, you’re probably a good parent. – Bunmi Laditan
This is a reminder to all of us mamas, yes you and I both, that we are doing a darn good job in this parenting gig. Whether you are a single mom, co-parenting, or parenting with your husband you are beyond amazing, you’re good enough and know that this would not be possible without you. At the end of the day, knowing your baby loves you makes it all worth it. This quote says it all. We are tired, tired beyond measure, and oh so tired but motherhood keeps us going – today and everyday. My mom devoted every minute of her life to me (us), always put us before her needs and barely, actually never had any me time. I do think we deserve some me time. As much as I have embraced motherhood I have made it a must to have some me time. I need it. I need to recharge my batteries too. I am a huge advocate of self-love and self-care. So mamas, you do you. Don’t let anyone tell you that you are not a good mom, because YOU are!
If you have read to here, I just wanted to say thank you for reading along and following our journey. I truly love connecting with all of you, learning more about you and as always love any suggestions you have. Cheers to mom community!
And, special thanks to my dear friend Anna for capturing these moments of us. She truly is amazing at what she does, and I love her personality. You can visit her Facebook page here.
Also, our photos may not be perfect and still more so candid, but that’s because neither is our daily life. We are playful, real and far from picture perfect. But, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I prefer these captured moments for stories to build and tell with my boys and little lady.
Xoxo, Vesna
Beautiful post!! I can relate to so much of what you wrote! Motherhood truly is <> to me as well! There is no greater love than the love between a mother and child | no greater blessing. Keep on shining mama while loving and raising good humans!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for reading!
