To save you time and frustration, here are the things I wish I knew before about blogging.
I know exactly how it is.
You get the idea of starting a Blog because, well everyone else is too.
But, you soon realize that it’s not as easy as it seems. And it shouldn’t be.
Blogging is fun when you’re passionate about what you’re doing.
I know, I have been blogging just a little over a year, and I am no expert. I am sure there are many of you out there that know wayyyyyy more than I do. But these are the things I wish I knew before, about blogging that could have saved me time and frustration –
-
SELF HOSTED BLOGGING WEBSITE
FIRST, if you are at all serious about your Blog – invest in it. And, what I mean by that is – get a self-hosted website that you pay for monthly and/or on a yearly basis (preferably on a yearly basis) and buy yourself a nice THEME.
But, it’s not all about the looks –
2. FIND YOUR NICHE
SECOND, find your niche! There is nothing worst that not knowing your purpose, whether that be the Blog or any other social media. Ask yourself – why am I doing this? Then once you’ve found your niche, go after your targeted audience. What audience do I target?
But, it’s not all about looks and niche –
3. SEO KEYWORDS
THIRD, if you don’t know what SEO is – get on that right of away! There is nothing worst that working on content for hours, days, weeks to finally hit that PUBLISH button and for that beautiful content to sit somewhere in the corner, without being noticed. Yes, it happened to me! You need to know about SEO, you need to invest in it and it will do magic for you (or something similar to magic). Find your SEO friendly keywords to include in the post. This is a great in-depth article about SEO.
So far we got, (1) self-hosted website, (2) theme, (3) SEO – so what’s next?
4. ENGAGEMENT
FOURTH, find time (yes, sounds ironic since we are so busy) but you need to find time to drive traffic to your site – otherwise, what’s the point? I struggle to find that time, with three little ones it’s not easy. But, engagement is everything. Comment on other blogger’s posts, like other content, pin your posts to PINTREST.
5. CONSISTENCY
FIFTH, consistency, consistency and consistency. If you say you’ll blog twice a week – do it. There is nothing worst (other than failed SEO keywords) that you can do then lie to your audience – if they expect two posts per week, then you need to deliver. Period.
6. PINTREST
SIXTH, Make Pintrest your best friend. I am still working on this one too. But, everyone tells me Pintrest has a crazy ability to drive traffic to your blog. So, pin as much as you can. Make sure you pin your own photos too. Do it on daily basis. Pin like 20, 30, 40, 50 pins a day if you can. I’ll get back on this one later once I have figured my own too. Are you following me on Pintrest?
7. FTC GUIDELINES
SEVENTH, adhere to FTC guidelines! Check, check and double check that you’re in compliance. This can come back and bite you in the ass. You should always disclose a sponsored post, whether it’s product exchange or getting paid it needs to be well noted.
That’s it for right now friends! I want to stand up to my social media motto, ‘we rise by uplifting others’, in such way that I share my mistakes, things I learn along this blogging journey, what I wish I knew, and just everything else that comes up. When you’re really passionate about your blog, as I am and put so much time into it, then it’s really sweet when you see those stats grow. So don’t rush it, invest time, create content that your audience will love and see it bloom. I have to disclose that I am no expert, and that I am still learning and probably will forever be improving my blog but I just wanted to share what I came across.
Previously I shared tips on social media, if you missed it read it here. Now, please share your feedback, tips and things you wish you knew before about blogging! Let’s unite in motherhood, blogging, and style to help each other.

Nice one…
There are many ways to create a website but however with certain restrictions. Best way I would like to suggest is to know the basics of web designing with html and css and then start creating the website of you choice. #www.bynd.co.in
Thank you for the input, I always appreciate new feedback and tips!
