Top 10 staple pieces you need in your closet for Fall and I am currently wearing five of those pieces!
I feel like with every season there are staples that we all want to have, but then there are the trendy pieces that you want but are not sure if you want to spend the money on. Anyone else, or is that just me?
Below I am sharing things that I feel are worth splurging on like this coat, and things that I don’t like to invest money on like tops.
Camel Coat
This camel coat is definitely a staple piece, and I didn’t mind splurging on it knowing that I’ll be wearing it on repeat through Fall/Winter. You can even take it to Spring with some white denim. It’s perfect for layering, and lightweight enough for traveling. I love that it has the option of the one button closure.
Marigold Top
Okay, so you probably already know my obsession with this marigold/burnt orange color, but I don’t like to invest a lot in tops because to be honest, how often can you wear a top before it gets annoying? While a coat is a piece that is meant to be on repeat, a top is not really. I love this one that I found, it gives me all the Fall vibes. Also, see Monday’s post here on the marigold cardigan I got.
Black Skinny Jeans
High-rise jeans are every moms dream! Almost all of my jeans are from Express, but I found these randomly while looking for the marigold top above, and took them to try with the top – and well, fell in love with them! They are high-rise, black, stretchy yet hold everything in, and have the front button closure which I have been looking for forever! I wore them all day yesterday and didn’t have to pull them up or anything. They’re “ankle” length but being petite that I am, that means the length is perfect for me. I also love that they are tapered at the bottom.
Studded Black Loafers
Not only are these great for every day, they are also great for the office. They’ll make any outfit pop, and not so basic. You can be wearing a white tee and jeans, and put these on and your outfit is that much more stylish – and not mention adding on a suede or leather jacket! These are SO soft, and true to size. I am so glad I got them! They pair up nicely with jeans and leggings.
Saddle Cross Body Bag
We all need a classic cross body bag and I am loving this one Melie Bianco sent it to me complimentary. It was just what I needed for Fall. Love this saddle color, and the classic look. It pairs up perfectly with this outfit. See another way I styled it here.
Suede/Leather Jacket
I think you need one of each, to be honest. I just got the softest and cutest looking leather jacket, which you saw on Instagram, to pair up with any outfit – dressed up or down. I love how leather jacket adds a bit of edginess to the outfit, whether you pair it with a dress, or jeans, or joggers! I have been looking for a suede jacket, and I really like this one from Target, very affordable and quality is great!
Baker Boy Hat
If you missed my post from Monday, you can read it here. I just got this baker boy hat and I am loving it on me! I tried it on with this coat and it pairs up so nicely! This is the first time ever that I tried on on, loved it and bought it. Also, this color is gorgeous!
Booties
This is probably a standard for every Fall, but there are so many options! I love the ankle booties the most as they tend to elongate my short longs and they work so well with jeans, cuffed or un-cuffed. But, I just ordered these and cannot wait to style them. The color is perfect to wear with anything, and I have a feeling they’ll pair up nicely with Fall dresses and jeans, and of course leggings.
Scarf
I mean, can it really be Fall without wearing a scarf? I don’t think so. I am currently crushing on these here. I have a ton from last year but a girl needs a refresh, right.
Plaid Shirt
Again, can you even say it’s Fall without plaid? I didn’t think so. I bought this one, and this one. But, I am eyeing this other one too. I love how you can easily pair plaid with leggings and cute sneakers, or leggings and boots, or over a casual dress, or just with jeans. The possibilities are endless.
Also, no matter the kind of a day I am having, and even if I have only five minutes to get ready, I always like to thrown on a cute pair of shoes and a jacket. It always makes me feel more confident and makes the basic outfit look more put together.

I have learned to build my wardrobe around basics and staple pieces. In this post, I shared the top ten staple pieces that are a must in your closet for Fall. My outfits consist of a lot of comfortable pieces, and pieces that you can wear on repeat. I don’t tend to always follow the trends, but when I do I don’t like to invest a whole lot in them – as they are just that – trends. They come and go. While, a beige coat never goes out of style and can be worn a million times.
So I am curious, are you a buy it all whatever is trendy type or do you like to build your outfits around basics?
