How to wear black for the Holidays without looking boring
One of the easiest ways to get dressed up for the upcoming Holidays is to wear black. Black never goes out of style, and unlike other colors black looks flattering on everyone. Whether you’re staying at home and hosting, heading to an office party, or a a family gathering a black outfit will always work. But, the key to wear black without looking boring is to mix it with patterns.
Not only does black make you look dressed up it also makes you look put together. A few weeks ago I wrote a post on How to look put together in no time (you can read it here) as I know we don’t always have all the time in the world to get ready, especially when hosting for the Holidays.
I partnered up with Ann Taylor to bring you this look for the Holidays.
Shawl Wrap Coat
This season I am all about coat and jacket investment, and to say that I am obsessed with this wrap coat from Ann Taylor would be an understatement. A black coat is a classic, and a staple in every closet. It makes the outfit along with these leopard print pumps that I cannot take off. They are so comfortable, and just at this photoshoot I got so many compliments on them. Everyone passing was commenting on them. I wore them in this post too.
Turtleneck
I paired up these Ann Taylor velvet side stripe skinny jeans with a not so basic black turtleneck and it was an instant dressy outfit. Black always looks dressed up, and it’s such a classic. This turtleneck is so soft and perfect for layering too. If you’re needing some cold weather inspiration you can read my previous post here. It’s a must have in your closet. You can easily dress it up with jeans like I did here, wear with a skirt as seen in this post, or wear sneakers for a more casual look.
Velvet Side Stripe Skinny Jeans
These modern velvet side stripe skinny jeans are not like your other jeans, these you can wear all day. They are made look good at 9PM as they did at 9AM. They don’t stretch out. And just for reference, I am wearing size 6 in Petite. The modern velvet side stripe is what takes these jeans from not so dressy to dressy. And, paired up with a black top you’re guaranteed to look put together and dressed up. Ann Taylor always brings comfort and style.
