Living with Intention this Year and not Goals
I have never been the type of person to sit and write a list of goals at the beginning of the year, and look down upon myself as the months pass and these goals are not achieved. I have also never heard of living the year with a special word in mind either. However, to me, personally this seems more appropriate then setting certain goals.
Mind you, some goals are necessary, like when I said to myself that I had to finish college being first generation here. I am talking about goals like saying to yourself that you have to lose ten lbs by summer – and what happens when you’re not there and summer arrives? You let yourself down, you tell yourself you failed, you start to hate yourself, you forget how truly beautiful you are and your entire year goes to shit. Oops! I meant, pick yourself up girl and tell yourself to start over, because ain’t no goal worth you putting yourself down!! Okay?
Instead, I am making less goals and living with more of an intentional mindset this year. And, I guess you can argue to say that my “goal” is to live more intentionally – that’s fine. You truly never know what the year holds, the challenges you cannot really anticipate and journeys it may take you on. Being a mommy & lifestyle blogger was never a goal of mine, heck I never even made a joke about doing that. But, when I became a stay at home mom with my three babes, I saw an opportunity in blogging and decided to pursue it. And, here I am today blogging and all.
Intention
Basically, a word to live by this year. Think about it. What does intention mean? Here is a quote that perfectly explains what this means to me and how I see living life with intention:
Live with intention.
Walk to the edge.
Listen Hard.
Practice wellness.
Play with abandon.
Laugh.
Choose with no regret.
Appreciate your friends.
Continue to learn.
Do what you love.
Live as if this is all there is.

I want to ensure that the time I spend doing things is intentional and well valued. That the days spent with the kiddos are well spent, and those moments we capture and share are the pure intention of every day presence. I prefer to go with the flow, and not pressure myself to comit to a structure that only leads to more stress.
So, I have no boxes to check off this year. Zero plans to do anything, and absolutely no numbers to reach. There are things that come up to me as ideas of opportunity, and if they present themselves I will explore them.
I’ll keep intention for this year, hold it closely as well as being present. All that it’s required of you is to make a shift in mindset and make a commitment to live with intention this year. Find intention in everything you do, like intention in how you spend your time, intention with your home organization and decor, intention with everything else.
Intention with your Time
If you think about this thoroughly, you’ll realize that your time is valuable, super valuable and it should have an intention. Don’t attempt to tackle all your chores for the week in one day, do one thing at a time, and if you are finished then add one more if you feel like it. Use your time wisely, spend it where it’s most needed and valued – with your babes. Be present.
Intention with your Home
If you also think about your home and everything in it, you’ll notice a whole lot of stuff that you probably don’t need – unless you just had a major decluttering moment. Think about your home with intention now too, and organize everything accordingly. Get rid of things you don’t need, make it a priority to declutter as soon as possible.
If you haven’t yet picked a word to live by this year – pick one, and hold yourself accountable for it. Perhaps that’s not your thing, but you’re feeling stuck in your life, just think about your past motivations. You’re responsible for your life, so live it with intention.
I love this post and the idea of living 2019 with more intention. This sounds so much healthier than setting achievable goals! Thank you for sharing and inspiring me to do the same!

Bettina
I am so glad you saw the same purpose as I did. You’re welcome, glad to help. Cheers to 2019!
I love this so much! I haven’t set any goals this year and like you stated If opportunities come my way I will explore them.
Good read mama!
Thank you so much mama. Wishing you many opportunities in the new year 🙂
