I decided to share this bread recipe after so many messaged me on Instagram asking for a recipe. I love to cook and bake, but I am no chef. I grew up with homemade bread, it’s a must in our culture. We rarely ever went to buy bread. So naturally, I love everything bread. Hopefully you’ll love this bread as much as I do. And, if you try making it, tag me and let me know how you like it.

Simple Homemade Bread Recipe
2 cups of flour
1 tb sugar
1 tb salt
1 egg
Yeast
2 1/2 cups of warm milk
Unsalted butter
Oil
That’s all you’ll need.
I should mention that I knead the bread by hand, and have never tried the mixer. I am sure it would turn out the same, if not better but just thought I’d mention that.
Follow these simple steps
Mix flour, sugar, salt and yeast together by hand. Then add milk and continue mixing by hand. You don’t want it to be too thick or too watery. If you need to add more milk, by all means do so. Just make sure it’s warm. It won’t rise as nicely.

Knead bread and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Then knead again. The more you knead the nicer the bread comes out. You don’t need to knead for hours, 10 minutes is good enough for me.
Then let sit for another 30 minutes or until dough rises completely. You’ll want to let it rise all the way as that makes the bread fluffier and nicer.
Once the dough rises, take it out and put it on the table (or kitchen countertop) and knead a bit more to shape it. Then cut in half.

Set one half aside. And roll out the one half.

After you roll one half, it should be shaped like a rectangle, obviously it doesn’t need to be perfect. Then on one side cut with a knife just like in this photo.

Then roll the bread up.

Place in the baking pan (put a baking sheet first).
Use a baking brush (or your fingers if you don’t have one) to put some oil on the bread.
Add a few slices of butter on top.
Repeat for second half.
Once both are in the pan let them sit for another 15 minutes.

Pre-heat oven to 400F.
Then place in the oven and cook for about 20 mins.

Easy way to check if bread is done is by poking it with a knife. If nothing sticks to the knife, it’s done.
That’s it.
It’s super simple, and this recipe never fails me.

The bottom recipe is in Serbian for all my Serbian friends 🙂

Sastojci:
2 solje brasna
1 jaje
mala kasika secera
velika kasika soli
kvasac
2 1/2 solje toplog mlijeka
Puter (za premazivanje)
Ulje (za premazivanje)
Priprema:
Sve sastojke dodajte skupa osim mlijeka.

Uvijek ispadne super!
