My favorite time of the year is approaching… FALL! And, while I don’t consider myself a seasonal decorator there is just something about the warm, cozy textures of Fall. You won’t see pumpkins in my home, but things like throw pillows, blankets and florals are the way I like to bring Fall into our home.
The key to everything in styling your home is to always create a foundation with larger pieces that lends itself to new layers each season. You don’t want to be swapping out furniture pieces, so to play it safe go with a neutral palette and then you can add seasonal decor easily. Also, this way you won’t break the bank!
With a clean slate like that, you can easily add touches of Fall tones in your home. And, to be honest I feel like Fall lives in our home always. I love creating a curated and collected home, which sets it apart from others but in that it also gives it a mix of pattern, textures, color, neutrals and deep tones.

Here are ways I incorporate Fall:
Layer in Throw Pillows
I always recommend buying pillow covers, because you can easily swap those out and makes for easier storage too. But, sometimes you may just find a pillow you love, so go for it.
Add warm cream colors this season, deep tones of browns, burgundy, purple and dark green. These are all staples in our home and make for a perfect Fall transition.
Layer in Throw Blankets
It is so easy to layer in blankets as they instantly add texture to the space and provide a cozy feeling. Blankets can be layered on the sofa, over ottomans, in a basket, etc. they are a sign of coziness.
But, they are also functional! We use all of our blankets too!
Add Fall floral stems
This is probably my favorite way to bring in Fall into our home. I love the deep burgundy, plum and mauve stems. I also love to mix in creams to keep the neutral palette.
This year I picked deep plum, mauve and cream. I love deep plum, and actually have those stems styled in our bedroom all year round. You don’t always have to wait for a season to hit to enjoy something that brings you love.
Create a Fall scent in your Home
I know this is unpopular opinion but I don’t use candles. I stopped using them a few years back after learning what’s in them. Instead I love creating a signature home scent using essential oils, and have recreated some candle dupes too.
I use only pure essential oils though, and buy them directly from Young Loving. You are welcome to shop with me, just click here and use my member # 25675723 at checkout.

These are just to give you an idea! I have so many more favorite scents that I love, and share on Instagram stories. I love diffusing oils, not only do they smell great but they also have mental health benefits.
I also wanted to mention that if you have a chance to swap out your rug, I would do that too. This may sound contradictory but I don’t swap our rugs seasonally, however I have a rug that is full of pattern and brings in rich tones that go well with Fall. It makes it so much easier to create a cozy, warm ambiance. This is only a suggestion, if it’s within your budget, not a necessity. In fact nothing mentioned here is a necessity, just inspirational.
