Recently, as of September I joined Young Living essential oils and have been intrigued with all the DIY! I have made a Wellness Roller which you find here, a Unicorn Roller to support your emotions which you can find here as well, and just the other day I made the infamous Mermaid Spray.
This is for everyone, but especially my postpartum moms that are struggling with hair loss like myself. I will literarily have a handful of hair on a regular shampoo & wash day! I am nine months postpartum right now and the hair loss is practically gone after using this product. It happened to me with every baby, and I just let it be. But, this time I wanted to try something!

Mermaid Spray
What is in the Mermaid Spray?
- Lavender Essential Oil
It is said that lavender essential oil can help hair grow faster and longer. It also moisturizes hair to prevent damage and breakage.
- Rosemary Essential Oil
Rosemary oil increases blood circulation, stimulates hair follicles, improves hair growth, and lessens hair loss.
- Cedarwood Essential Oil
Like rosemary essential oil, cedarwood oil also increases blood circulation, stimulates scalp, and helps hair to grow faster and thicker.
- Peppermint Essential Oil
Lessens hair loss by strengthening the root and increases bloodflow to scalp. Much needed for this postpartum hair loss.
How to make the Mermaid Spray?
This recipe is for a 4oz glass spray bottle. I got the spray bottle from Whimsy & Wellness, because I simply just love their products! You can use a 2oz glass spray bottle too.

Step 1: add the following essential oils
15 drops lavender essential oil
15 drops rosemary essential oil
15 drops cedarwood essential oil
15 drops peppermint essential oil
Step 2: add 1/2 way alcohol-free witch hazel
Step 3: fill the rest of the spray bottle with hot water (not boiling tho) from your faucet.
Step 4: shake well & it’s ready to use! Remember to shake it before each use, as settling is natural. Spray on damp hair and let the magic happen.
Lavender and Peppermint come in your Premium Starter Kit. Rosemary and Cedarwood were one of the first oils I purchased outside of the kit through Essential Rewards Order (don’t know what Essential Rewards are? You can read all about them here) because I wanted to make this magical Mermaid Spray for my hair. It’s been about six months of using this spray and my hair has never been better and I am not even exaggerating. Even my hair stylist noticed and asked what have I been doing to my hair, which of course I shared this recipe.
Let me know if you try to make the spray!

What kind of witch hazel do you use. I’m confused by the many types
Hi Anne. I used the Thayer’s alcohol-free witch hazel (facial toner) for mine. You can use any as long as it’s alcohol-free.
