I just joined Young Living in September of 2020, and since have been experimenting with all the essential oil blends and DIYs. One of my favorite DIY is the Thieves Laundry Detergent hack!

But, first let me back up for a second and share a few things about the traditional detergents, you know those you can purchase at the store. They are loaded (and I mean loaded) with awful unsafe ingredients. They are made with more chemicals than I’ll ever understand why. After trying out Thieves, a plant-based laundry detergent I cannot understand the need to put so many chemicals in a laundry detergent (or really anything) when the plant based ones work so well! Someone please explain this to me.

Do yourself a favor. Look up the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Search their site for the ingredients in your products. You might be surprised to find your detergent doesn’t even have an ingredient list.

Anyways, joining Young Living has been one of the best decisions I have ever made for our little (big) family. I know the products we are using are safe, I know the ingredients and I can confidentaly use this around our family. I am not worried about my kids clothes, and what we wash them with.

Most people think that Thieves is expensive, out of their budget friendly options, etc. but, let me break it down for you here.

Just go with me for a sec please.

A wholesale member pays $29.50 for a bottle of laundry detergent. If you follow the below hack, of splitting 1 Thieves Laundry Detergent into 3 32oz bottles — one bottle of Thieves Laundry Soap is $29.50, but when turned into 3 bottles that is $9.80 per bottle. Each bottle has 64 loads, so we have tripled it to 192 loads at $0.15 per load and it is SAFE.

How does that sound?

Thieves Laundry Soap Hack

Here is a step by step how I make ours. It’s easy, and not only saves you $$$ but you know what you are washing your clothes with.

• Split an entire Laundry Soap between 3, 32 oz glass pump bottles.
• Add 2 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner to each bottle
• Add in your favorite oil! I used 40 drops of Purification.
• Top off with water, shake gently & ready to use!
• Use 2 pumps per load of clothes.

Now imagine how many loads of laundry you can do with THREE 32oz bottles! A lot!

Thieves Laundry Stain Remover

I figured I should share this DIY as well as it fits right into the Laundry section.

As a mom to four (almost five) littles, this stain stick is a must have! And it is the bomb! It works like a charm and is way better on your clothes (and you) than the store bought stain sticks.

1. Get a 30ml roller (or you can get a brush)
2. Fill equal parts with Thieves Household Cleaner, Thieves Laundry Soap and Thieves Fruits & Veggies Wash
3. Roll it on the stains, let it sit, rinse, and wash.

Wool Dryer Balls

I have to admit I rarely ever used the dryer sheets (and actually never used the liquid softner), because the smell always gave me a headache. Now I know why, they are loaded with chemicals too! So, I was really on board with the wool dryer balls and couldn’t wait to try them out.

We now use wool dryer balls with an essential oil and our clothes have never smelled better. Need some suggestions? Here are 2 of my favorite oils to use with my laundry!

• Lavender
• Purification

Once you have your dryer balls and your oils, the rest is super simple! Just add a few drops of oil to your dryer ball and pop it in the dryer.

Simple, safe, and non toxic!

Never in a million years did I think I would become someone that ordered her products online, checked labels on all the things, skipped the laundry isle at the grocery store, and chatted chemical free living with all the people. I knew to feel better, I had to know better and DO better. aking these life changes to safer products is literally baby steps, one product at a time. And then one day you look back and realize your skin feels better, your skin looks better, your hormones feel less crazy, you breathe better, and so much more. Our skin is our largest organ, what we put on it matters.

I know I always share this, but did you know that it only takes 26 seconds for our skin to absorb what we put on it? Yes, just 26 seconds to enter our bloodstream and flow through. Scary, right?
